Renovating Lancaster Cupcake Bakery: A Resin Flooring Upgrade
Project At a Glance
Lancaster Cupcake, a renowned bakery specializing in delectable desserts in Lancaster, PA, reached out to the Surface Technology, Inc. team for a much-needed update to their back kitchen flooring.
The existing floor was coated with a thin layer of epoxy paint that was peeling in various sections. To address this issue, we expertly installed 1,400 sq ft of industrial resin flooring, specifically designed to meet the stringent requirements of the food industry. Our team completed the project with exceptional efficiency, finishing a day ahead of our estimated timeline.
Materials and Process
Surface Technology, Inc provided all of the labor, materials, and equipment needed to install approximately 1,400 square feet of flooring in the bakery’s kitchen.
Our Process
- The STI team prepped the space by removing what was left of the existing epoxy coating.
- Our team routed and pre-filled cracks and small holes using patching compound.
- We installed the urethane cement flooring system, with anti-slip additives for commercial kitchen safety.
Materials
This project called for a high-performance urethane cement coating. We used a 100% polymer patching compound to fill cracks and Tnemec’s Ultra-Tread urethane cement with an anti-slip texture in a gray color similar to the previous floor color.
Project Challenges
The flooring installation project took place in a commercial kitchen. Our team needed to remove the peeling paint and install the resin flooring with minimal shutdown time to get the bakery back to business quickly. The nature of the space meant that we had to navigate the installation around tight spaces.
STI's Solution
To minimize disruption, the Surface Technology team worked on this resin flooring installation over the course of a weekend. Lancaster Cupcake was able to reopen for business in just 4 days from start to finish. Our experienced professionals were able to navigate our diamond grinder machine and other equipment around the tight spaces in the kitchen to create a finished industrial resin floor that can stand up to the kitchen operations.
