Paragon Foods, a well-known specialty foods distributor, was a few steps away from completing construction on a new facility in Warrendale, Pennsylvania and needed an industrial flooring solution fast. They contacted Surface Technology, Inc to install 10,000 square feet of industrial resin flooring with a short turnaround time during the busiest season of the year. The team mobilized quickly and worked diligently to install the flooring on time and at a level of perfection that speaks to their longstanding reputation for excellence in the industrial flooring industry.
Materials and Process
Our Process
- The STI team prepped the floor by shot-blasting the new concrete surface and cleaning it.
- We set the area up for proper drainage.
- Our team applied the FasTop12S urethane coating to the flooring surface.
- We finished the installation by applying a binder resin on top.
- To protect the room from water, we also added cove bases around the perimeter of the space.

Paragon Foods knew what it needed and when they needed it: a General Polymers FasTop 12S Urethane Slurry flooring system.
Project Challenges
The food company needed to complete the project between Christmas and New Year’s, which is the busiest season for flooring professionals, with many plants booking maintenance in advance to get work done during the holiday shutdown. Other flooring teams would not be able to get the job done on such short notice. A delay in the flooring installation, however, would have jeopardized the food company’s remaining construction schedule.
